Maintenance report: roofing, awnings and nearly 100 work orders as district readies schools

Maintenance staff reported July 7 that the district has completed many summer projects and is prioritizing repairs ahead of the school year.
"We've had almost a 100 work orders this month since school's been out," maintenance staff reported and said corridors have been repainted, a greenhouse construction is finished except for a gas connection, and that one gym's AC work remains ongoing.
The district has started roofing work and ordered materials for Fairview awning repairs; maintenance said the center portion of the awning should be completed "by the time that school starts," to protect the cafeteria and student drop-off areas. The maintenance supervisor noted signage and dedication plaques are on order but have six-to-eight-week lead times from vendors.
On auditorium safety, staff said state requirements mean any stage curtains installed must be fire-retardant and that replacing curtains and bleacher seats could be costly; they are collecting quotes and said there are 57 individual seats they are evaluating for repair or replacement.
Why it matters: with school beginning in August, timely completion of roofing, awnings and safety-related work affects student drop-off, food-service areas and program operations. Maintenance staff said they are coordinating sequencing to limit repeat work and temporary patching when necessary.
Next steps: maintenance will provide quotes for bleacher-seat replacement and update the board on the awning and greenhouse gas-meter completion.
