The City of Cedarburg common council on April 21 administered oaths to five newly seated alderpersons and handled several routine but formal actions, including the election of a council president and a temporary alcohol license.
The clerk administered the oath of office to Melissa Bitter (1st District), Andrew Mammon (3rd District), Amanda Didier (4th District), Robert (Bobby) Simpson (5th District) and Mark Mueller (7th District). The oath affirmed support for the U.S. and Wisconsin constitutions and faithful discharge of their duties.
Council nominated and approved Robert (Bobby) Simpson as president of the common council; no opposition was recorded on the meeting transcript. Council also nominated Jim Fitzpatrick as the common council's representative to the Plan Commission and approved his appointment; colleagues praised Fitzpatrick for bringing a financial perspective to the Plan Commission.
On agenda item 9a the council authorized issuance of a six‑month Class B license to Cedars 3 LLC for a concession stand on Portland Road from May 1 through Oct. 31 to serve softball leagues and the recreation department. A motion and a second were made and the motion passed with no opposition recorded in the transcript.
The meeting concluded after additional administrative announcements about board and commission assignments and committee schedules; the mayor asked council members to return a preference sheet for board and commission assignments so votes on those appointments could appear in the May 11 packet. A motion to adjourn was then made and seconded.
