The Cairo Town Board approved several personnel actions on Oct. 6, 2025.
Council Member Flaherty offered and the board approved Resolution No. 2025‑195 to hire Ashley Reynolds as a part‑time police officer (non‑competitive) effective Oct. 6, 2025, contingent on successful completion of the Zone 14 Law Enforcement Academy and New York State hiring standards; the resolution lists a starting training pay rate of $21.63 per hour.
The board also appointed Johanna Halvorsen to a full‑time Bookkeeper/Human Resources position at $32.35 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week (Resolution No. 2025‑197). Supervisor Watts abstained from that vote; the other board members voted aye and the motion carried.
In ambulance staffing actions, the board promoted Kayla Benson from part‑time to full‑time EMT (Resolution No. 2025‑199) effective Oct. 6, 2025, and approved hiring Alana Columbus from the civil service list as a part‑time EMT at $21.42 per hour (Resolution No. 2025‑200). All personnel votes on the ambulance and police items carried unanimously.
The board also authorized reimbursement for Stacy Sprague to attend the 2025 NYSBOC delegates meeting in Albany Oct. 16–17, 2025 (Resolution No. 2025‑194).
