The Cedarburg Common Council took several routine and semi‑substantive votes during its April 13 meeting.
Ordinance change — zoning (ordinance 20 26‑08): After a public hearing and a favorable Plan Commission recommendation, the council approved amending city code section 13‑1‑61(d) to add banks, savings and loans and credit unions (with or without drive‑throughs) as conditional uses in the M‑3 Business Park zoning district. No public comment was offered and the ordinance passed on unanimous voice vote.
Liquor license — Backspace LLC (class B beer; class C wine only): The council approved event‑based beer and wine licenses for Backspace LLC on Washington Ave., conditioned on notification to the city clerk by email for each event (the space is not zoned to operate as a tavern). The applicant was not present at the meeting.
Holiday lights — South Business District: Staff recommended ordering decorations now to save on shipment costs; the tourism/economic development board committed room‑tax funds for downtown wreaths and asked the city to fund the South Business District portion. The council approved funding not to exceed $21,000.89.
ARPA interest and contingency — community gym pavers: Council approved using $12,817.20 in remaining ARPA interest funds plus $4,662.80 from the general fund contingency to replace a grass area in front of the community gym with pavers recommended by the landmarks commission; work is anticipated before the Strawberry Festival.
Consent agenda: The council approved the consent agenda on a unanimous voice vote.
For each action: motions were made, seconded and carried by voice vote; where staff noted further administrative steps (for example, clerk notification processes or posting corrected packet materials), council directed staff to follow up.
