JPS schedules Beautification Day, opens 2026-27 registration and outlines classroom supports

A Staff member described UFLY stations where teachers and instructional assistants work with scholars on prefixes, suffixes and strategies meant to prepare students for the third-grade test, with individualized attention for scholars who have taken the test multiple times. “I think it's important to have somebody like this to, 1st of all, build up the confidence of our scholars… and then also give individualized attention,” the Staff member said.
The district asked volunteers to help teachers set up classrooms, refresh entrances and clean school grounds on Beautification Day, running 7 a.m. to noon at all JPS schools, and directed volunteers to sign up via the JPS website.
District staff also announced that registration for the 2026-27 school year is open at jackson.k12.ms.us (enrollment tab). The Staff member said the first day of school is July 29 and that there will be no registration during that first week; the transcript stressed early registration helps with scheduling, staffing and transportation.
