Cemetery committee members reappointed; town to post opening-permit notice at Norton Cemetery

Bob Weisert, chairman of the Cemetery Committee, reported a large patch of dug-up grass at Pleasant View Cemetery that he and volunteer Guy Barter are investigating (possible animal activity). Weisert said he has begun issuing opening permits for Norton Cemetery to create a town record of burials and proposed placing a sign at the cemetery entrance stating an opening permit is required and listing the town office phone number; the board asked Weisert to work with Town Clerk Lisa M. Young on exact wording.
Chairman Alton Grover moved to reappoint Karin and Bob Weisert to the committee; Selectman Heidi Alley seconded and the motion carried 5-0-0. The board also agreed it would be prudent to arrange training so more volunteers know how to mark burial plots if Weisert or others become unavailable.
