The Cushing Board of Selectmen opened sealed bids for the White septic project on July 13 and accepted a bid from Doug Fales for $11,485, pending approval from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
Bids opened at the meeting included David Dean ($13,900), Doug Fales ($11,485), Santana Excavation ($12,000), Tom's Plumbing and Electric ($12,001) and Don Meklin and Sons Excavation ($9,800). The board refused the Tom's Plumbing and Don Meklin bids because those bidders did not attend the required pre-bid inspection.
Selectman Daniel Staples moved to accept Doug Fales's bid pending DEP approval; Selectman Laurie Haynes seconded and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0-0. The board noted the award is contingent on DEP approval and did not record contract start dates or a payment schedule in the minutes.
