DNR requires trail master plan update for Harmony bike-trail extension; LCCMR contract submitted

Chris Giesen told the EDA on Sept. 6 that the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has determined the proposed bike-trail extension will require an update to the existing trail master plan. DNR officials are expected to work on the update over the coming months and the process will include public input and feedback.
Giesen also reported that the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) grant contract for the bike-trail project had been signed and submitted to the DNR. He said staff will coordinate on the master-plan update and public-engagement steps required by the DNR.
Separately, Giesen said he had received an inquiry from a potential new Main Street business and was assisting the prospective operator with a business plan and location options. No formal action on the trail master-plan update was taken at the meeting.
