Inwood council approves campground policy, equipment purchase and multiple routine items

At its June 17 meeting the Inwood City Council approved a range of routine and operational items, including a campground policy, equipment purchase, street closures for summer events and a water-service addendum.

Council reviewed a proposed campground policy and, after discussion and suggestions from Samantha Scholten, Laurel Reinke moved to approve the policy; Rick Rozeboom seconded and the motion carried 5-0.

On the consent agenda, the council approved minutes from May 11, May 21 and May 28, the treasurer's report, a detailed list of bills and purchases, and building permit applications (including a house permit for Sophia Mattoon and a fence permit for Chris Bixler). The bills list included notable items such as a $67,020 canopy from Wiersma Construction and sanitation charges of $9,645.87; the consent motion was made by Mark Timmerman and seconded by Rick Rozeboom and carried 5-0.

Council approved contracting with Town & Country Implement to purchase a new skidloader, including trade-in, for $9,000 on a motion by Shannon Faber, seconded by Rick Rozeboom; the motion carried 5-0.

Council introduced and adopted Resolution #16-26 to close portions of Adams Street and South Main Street for the July 1 Car Show and Resolution #17-26 to close part of South Cherry Street for the July 4 celebration; both passed unanimously. The council also discussed the jake-brake/engine noise ordinance and decided to revise it to increase the fine to $125 per occurrence.

Jordan Huyser moved and Laurel Reinke seconded approval of the Lyon & Sioux Rural Water Addendum; the motion carried 5-0.

The meeting concluded with a motion by Shannon Faber to adjourn, seconded by Rick Rozeboom, which carried 5-0.
