Heritage Farm Commission approves 2026 meeting calendar, hears maintenance and finance updates

The Bolton Heritage Farm Commission on Dec. 8 unanimously approved its calendar of meetings for 2026 and received routine updates on maintenance, finances and recent community events.
Chairman Arlene Fiano called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m. and the commission moved, on a unanimous vote, to table approval of the Nov. 3, 2025 minutes until the February 2026 meeting. Later in the meeting, Paula Lynn moved to approve the 2026 meeting dates (first Mondays, with June 1 and July 6 at 6:00 p.m. at Heritage Farm and a Sept. 14 meeting to avoid Labor Day); Leslie Shea seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:29 p.m. after a unanimous motion to end the session.
Building and Grounds Supervisor John Butrymovich reported that the farm’s water system has been winterized, leaves have been cleared and the grounds are ready for spring mowing. Treasurer Cara Wraight presented account figures, saying the BHF Town Account holds $11,674.08 (which includes $405.00 in outstanding checks) and the Friends of Rose Farm account balance is $8,032.71.
Chairman Fiano said the Hartford Foundation of Giving has advanced consideration of a grant request for a library display case to the next stage; if approved at the end of December or in early January, $7,500 would be included in the town budget to cover the case. Fiano also reported that the commission won first prize at the Festival of Trees and agreed to send a thank-you note to Pastor Brandon for his contribution to the event and raffle baskets. Fiano said the Sleighbells Ring fundraising event was a success and recommended reserving the same prime spot for next year.
Butrymovich reported that a memorial bench for Hope Grunski has been received and installed. Before adjourning, the commission discussed who previously purchased the large wreath on the barn; Butrymovich said the wreath was donated by an individual who bought it from Cropley’s, and Fiano suggested the commission contact Woodland Gardens about donating or selling a wreath at cost next year.
