Heritage Farm commission approves Techno display case and plans interpretive panels

At the Heritage Farm Commission meeting on May 4, 2026, volunteer Rudy Guliani presented an updated quote and a plan for an exhibit case and interpretive panels for artifacts recovered from a local encampment. The commission directed Guliani to end the search for alternative display cases and proceed with the Techno case option after Guliani noted the original quote had omitted shipping costs.

Guliani outlined a two-part exhibit: a permanent 12-by-12-inch main panel providing context about the expedition, an artifact legend and a description of the excavation; and six full-size 24-by-12-inch panels intended to be swapped over time. Proposed panel topics are: interpretation of artifacts (with emphasis on musket ball and kettle artifacts); the relationship between artifacts and life in the encampment; regimental uniforms (noting only three of five button artifacts match regiments documented in Bolton); a German-regiment focus via an enlisted man’s account; a panel about a defaced coin (to be coordinated with Sarah Sportman); and an overview of the excavation process (to be coordinated with Christine Pittsley).

Guliani told the commission he is still searching for primary-source material from Bolton to support the panels and said he will bring a draft of the main 12x12 panel and the first two 24x12 panels to the next meeting. The commission’s endorsement at the May 4 meeting gives Guliani direction to finalize the procurement details, including the updated shipping-inclusive quote.

Next steps noted at the meeting: Guliani will draft the panels for review by the commission; coordination with Sportman and Pittsley on specific panel content; and finalization of the case purchase and installation schedule at an upcoming meeting.
