Louisa County board approves routine licenses, project plans and personnel payouts; hears engineer update

The Louisa County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 8, 2022 approved several routine items and personnel payments.
Supervisor Chris Ball moved, and Supervisor Randy Griffin seconded, approval of a Class C liquor license for Cedar Crest Golf & Country Club. Supervisor Randy Griffin moved, and Supervisor Chris Ball seconded, to sign a county agreement letter with Mark Spitznogle for training of new sheriff deputy hires. The board also authorized signing plans for the TAP-R-CO58(060)—8T58 Columbus Bicycle Trail project after a motion by Supervisor Griffin and second by Supervisor Ball.
Earlier, the board signed a retirement payout letter for Helscher in the amount of $16,969.93 (motion by Griffin, second by Ball) and a resignation payout letter for Crawford totaling $1,213.80 (motion by Ball, second by Griffin). The board reviewed the 2021 Wage Report, which lists individual employee wages and records total wages of $4,585,321.32. County Engineer Adam Shutt reported that a candidate from the interview process accepted a position and would start March 7.
The board also reviewed a letter confirming the annexation of Katydid Subdivision to the City of Columbus Junction and the January reports for the Morning Sun and Wapello ambulances; the minutes do not record further board action on those items beyond review.
