Municipal Operations Director Jesse Rankin asked the Redevelopment Authority on March 10 for ideas to enhance the Village of Bonduel’s Fourth of July celebration, including expanded park activities, painting the baseball outfield, and adding flower baskets and flags along the parade route.
Rankin said he is working with Celebrate Bonduel to add activities at the park and suggested a decorating contest to encourage business owners and residents to embellish buildings and homes along the parade route. The RDA discussed a promotion encouraging patronage of local businesses on the Friday before the event. By consensus the item was tabled until the next meeting so staff and the volunteer group could develop specifics.
Why it matters: Enhancements could increase downtown foot traffic during a major annual event and support local businesses that line the parade route.
What happens next: Rankin will continue coordinating with Celebrate Bonduel and bring detailed proposals and potential costs to a future meeting for RDA consideration.
