Bonduel/Hartland fire commission backs plan to expand training sessions to address attendance

Chairperson Mark Miner and members of the Village of Bonduel/Town of Hartland Fire Commission heard a report Feb. 19, 2025 from Fire Chief Kevin Lynch on department activity and training needs.
Chief Lynch said the department responded to 55 calls for service in the prior year, “most of the calls being car accidents,” and said the department wants to “make a push for more training opportunities.” To address inconsistent attendance, he proposed offering each training topic three times per month at varying days and times to improve accessibility. He said he would develop a training plan and present it at the commission's next meeting.
Commission members discussed attendance and training policy together (agenda items G1 and G2) and by consensus tabled formal action until Lynch returns with a written plan. No ordinance or rule change was adopted at the meeting.
The commission did not set a timeline for implementation during the meeting; Chief Lynch’s plan is scheduled for presentation at the next Fire Commission meeting.
