Committee endorses summer trial of four 9-hour workdays with Friday half-days

The Village of Bonduel Committee of the Whole voted unanimously on Jan. 28 to recommend a summer trial allowing departments to work four nine-hour days and take half-days on Fridays from May 1 through Labor Day.
Municipal Clerk/Treasurer Michelle Maroszek reported survey results from the Municipal Clerks Association indicating that a majority of nearby municipal offices use longer weekday hours with a half- or full-day off on Fridays. Village staff asked for a trial to test whether a similar schedule would work locally.
Committee members discussed the local practices and agreed that a summer trial would be an appropriate way to test the arrangement. Kay Zuleger moved, and Brenda Staszak seconded, to recommend the trial schedule to the Village Board. The motion carried unanimously. The Board said it will consider whether to extend the flexed hours for the rest of the year after reviewing results following Labor Day.
Next steps: The recommendation will be forwarded to the Village Board for decision and any departmental scheduling changes would begin May 1 if approved.
