Bethel approves Lifepak 35 and a Dodge Durango for paramedic service

The Bethel Board of Selectmen voted to approve two purchases for the town's paramedic program: a Lifepak 35 monitor (quoted at $48,982.98) and a Dodge Durango chassis on state contract for $41,052. The Lifepak purchase will be paid from paramedic funds; the board approved the vehicle purchase with the understanding that final outfitting costs will be presented later.
A selectman explained the town's prior monitor (LP 15) has reached the end of its useful life and that the LP 35 quote is the town's current option. "The LP 35 ... we have a quote for $48,982.98," the selectman said. On the chassis decision, an emergency services staff member said Dodge came in significantly less than the Ford alternative and that, although build-out costs vary, the primary savings appear to be on the vehicle itself.
Board members asked for a later return to the board with the specific build-out and outfitting costs before final disbursement of those funds. Both motions passed on voice votes.
