Staff continue streetlight rate review; Dussel and Ford safety work to proceed

Maumee staff told the committee July 8 that their review of streetlight rates and capital needs remains in progress and that recommendations will be brought back to the council when available.
Staff described the work as "a monumental task" with ongoing evaluation of assessment impacts and future capital-program needs. They said the goal is to right-size revenue collection with "very little to minimal impact on the residents." Staff also reported they are not seeking to take over infrastructure the city does not own and are focused on maintaining existing assets.
The presentation highlighted a safety priority: staff said they will proceed with the Dussel and Ford intersection lighting project, calling it a safety issue related to crashes in the area and noting it is budgeted. A project supervisor will issue a proposal with timing to follow; staff characterized the Dawson project as still preliminary.
Committee members asked about timing for the Dawson project and staff said a proposal will be provided soon. No formal motion or vote was taken on the streetlight review itself; staff said they expect to deliver a recommendation once analysis is complete.
