Piscataway honors spring track standouts; longtime coach Pacino to step back

Coach (speaker 3) said Wright’s accomplishments reflect hard work and year-round conditioning.
Coach (speaker 2) highlighted freshman Chelsea Watkins, who won the North 2 Group 4 sectional shot put and later won the freshman shot-put division at the New Balance championships, with a reported best throw of 40 feet, 8 inches that the coach said is now the school record. Coach (speaker 2) also reviewed the depth of the relay squads: the 4x100 quartet (Neveah Isaac, Amaya Campbell, Talia Ferguson and Janissa Samuel) won multiple championships and will return largely intact, and the 4x400 lineup (Lena Deering, Talia Ferguson, Chelsea Smith, Janissa Samuel) secured a decisive victory by nearly two seconds, with a reported split of roughly 58 seconds on the anchor leg.
The program emphasized player development and team cohesion; coaches repeatedly praised athletes’ dedication, early arrival at practice and mutual encouragement. A board member asked the athletes to gather for a group photo and praised the students’ teamwork and community support.
Moderator (speaker 1) publicly recognized Coach Pacino and said he is stepping back after about 37 years of coaching at Piscataway High School. The moderator and the superintendent thanked Pacino for his long service and clarified he will remain teaching while reducing coaching responsibilities.
The athletic recognitions concluded with district leaders and the superintendent thanking coaches, families and staff for their support and saying they look forward to future seasons.
