Avon council confirms appointment of Usha Srivel as tax collector

The Town Manager appointed Revenue Clerk Usha Srivel as Avon’s Tax Collector; Council unanimously authorized the appointment and Srivel thanked staff and family.
The Town Manager told the Council that, under the Town Charter, the Town Clerk and Tax Collector are Town Manager appointments subject to Council approval. He said Halaree Monnerat resigned to take a tax collector position elsewhere and that he had appointed Revenue Clerk Usha Srivel, who began with the Town in 2015 and is expected to receive certification in December, as the next Tax Collector.
On a motion by Mr. Weber, seconded by Ms. Ausiello, the Council authorized the Town Manager’s appointment of Usha Srivel as Tax Collector. All Councilors voted in favor. Srivel thanked the Council, Town Manager, the Director of Finance and her family and said she looks forward to serving in the role.
Chairman Polhamus congratulated Srivel and wished outgoing Halaree Monnerat well in Southington.
