Larson Tiling invoice: The council approved paying the remaining $4,103.97 balance for repair work on N 4th Street. The County declined to pay; Widseth Engineering offered to cover half of the balance ($2,051.99). Following a motion from Councilman Jeff Olson and a second from Councilman Randy Stafford, the council voted 3-1 in favor of covering the remainder (Petersen, Stafford and Olson yes; Adelman opposed; Hansen absent). City Manager Tyler Franzky will bill Widseth for its agreed portion.
Council vacancy: Council discussed options to fill a current open seat (appoint someone to serve until January or leave it vacant until the next election). City Attorney Chris Reisdorfer advised appointment is typically only used when urgent spending requires it. Councilman Randy Stafford moved, with Councilman Dean Petersen seconding, to leave the seat open until the next election; the transcript does not record a subsequent roll-call vote on that motion.
Other items: A letter from Otter Tail Power notifying customers of rate increases was included in the packet for information.
