The Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals continued the special-permit application by Amanda Hunt for 227 Edgewater Drive West to Aug. 6 after hearing an applicant overview and multiple public comments about parking and dock use.
Attorney Brian Wall presented the proposal, saying the family has owned the property since 1959 and the project would renovate and add to the existing house while maintaining five bedrooms. He noted parts of the addition would sit on pilings because the property lies in a flood zone and said a new Title 5 septic system is planned and pending Board of Health review.
During public comment, Joe Bornstein, who lives across the street, raised parking concerns and said he has repeatedly encountered cars parked in ways that block public rights of way. He questioned whether two on-site parking spaces would be sufficient for a seven-room/large-house use and warned of ongoing neighborhood parking problems.
Amanda Hunt, identified in the hearing, denied renting the private dock and said any use by others had been occasional family or neighbor use. "We 100% do not rent the dock," she said.
Rita Foster, a neighbor, supported the project and said it would improve the area. The board noted outstanding reviews by the Board of Health and the Conservation Commission and set a deadline for updated materials a week before the August 6 hearing. The applicant agreed to the continuance.
