Crosby-Ironton school district board recognizes member, schedules strategic-plan input sessions

The Crosby-Ironton Public School Dist. board met Monday night and recognized board member Beth Hodala for completing phases 1 through 4 of her school board training, district staff member Rick Ollie said in a district update.
Ollie said the board reviewed results from its self-evaluation survey, which covered ethics, vision, structure, accountability, advocacy and communication, and will continue monitoring those areas as part of ongoing board improvement efforts.
"We do appreciate her commitment for school district and for the effectiveness of our school board governance," Ollie said, describing the recognition of Hodala.
Ollie said the board also reviewed progress on the district strategic plan and rated both facilities and finance "on track" according to the district rubric. He announced community input sessions to gather public feedback on the strategic plan, listing March 24 at 3:30 p.m. at the Forum Room and a virtual session March 30 at 6 p.m. via Zoom; one session listing in the transcript is garbled (it reads "03/20/1966 at 03:30 at the Crest Craft cafeteria") and should be verified on the district's website before making plans to attend.
The district also has begun budget-setting conversations for the 2026–27 school year, Ollie said, with staff and board members looking at enrollment trends, financial projections and overall staffing; he said those discussions will continue through March and April.
The board discussed a community education position expected to be posted at the end of March and approved an update to the district's agreement with Rangers Esports. The board approved several spring coaching positions and reviewed and approved district policies and overnight trips for the National Honor Society and the robotics team.
Ollie said the board graciously accepted more than $8,000 in community donations during February but did not give a precise total or list donors in the update.
He closed the update by reminding the public of the board's meeting schedule — work sessions on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. and business meetings on the fourth Monday at 6:30 p.m. — and encouraging community participation in the strategic-plan input sessions.
