Colby Marks, director of Recreation and Parks, told the committee the project would add two indoor cameras, an outdoor multi-sensor camera, a door controller with 100 encrypted access cards and a new rubberized, synthetic vinyl floor with a custom logo. "The total for the construction for this project is a $109,961," Marks said, adding the township planned to seek $110,000 and a 50% county match.
The committee discussed application-level estimates and confirmed that the line-item details were necessary to file the grant but not binding. Members raised questions about whether bathroom upgrades were included; staff said bathroom work was not part of this application but could be considered separately.
Committee members also suggested additional security options; one member recommended installing a license-plate reader tied to county dispatch, an idea staff said they had discussed with the police chief. After a brief public-comment period with no outside speakers, the committee voted to advance the application and thanked Marks and his team for preparing the submission.
The resolution authorizing the grant application (Resolution 2026-128) was approved by roll call. The application deadline was said to be imminent.
The committee's action now allows staff to file the Monmouth County Park Improvement Grant application and pursue the county match; if awarded, the grant would fund the cameras, access-control system and replacement flooring at the community center.
