LMAC frames Watershed Based Plan as long-term goal, plans spring event and nonprofit fundraising arm

LMAC clarified that recommendations in the Watershed Based Plan (WBP) should be treated as aspirational stretch goals for the first five years of a 25-year planning period and not as an immediate checklist. The committee plans to continue circulating the WBP and hold future rounds of discussion, including joint meetings with other town boards and committees.
Committee member Suzi Peck described immediate measures that could benefit lake health, such as stormwater control and other short-term mitigation projects. She emphasized the need for coordination with the Board of Health, the Planning Board and zoning reviews to address phosphorus levels, septic concerns and infrastructure along Massapoag Ave.
Members also discussed community outreach: following a successful 'Rake the Lake' event, organizers are planning a springtime 'Wake Up the Lake' event. Separately, members discussed forming a 501(c)(3) 'Friends of LMAC' to support fundraising, volunteer engagement, education and town lake-improvement projects.
The committee will continue public discussion and coordinate next steps with relevant town bodies before advancing recommendations.
