Committee members discussed longer-term administrative and staffing needs tied to expanding lake projects and grant opportunities. Members decided that invoicing for LMAC projects would be handled by the Conservation Commission clerk, Jana Katz. Chair Laura Russell asked that 'Fred' consider creating a Natural Resources Director or equivalent position to provide proactive management of lakes, ponds and related parks, to address invasive species and septic/phosphorus concerns, pursue and manage grants, and provide project management capacity.
Laura framed the request as a way to move from reactive to active management of town natural resources, to increase public access and facilities, and to improve grant reporting and opportunities (including potential DEP 319 funds). The committee agreed to circulate details of potential future grant proposals so town administration can plan realistically for grant administration and reporting needs.
No formal decision to create a new staff position was recorded; the discussion was a request to town leadership to evaluate options.
