Ogdensburg updates: CFO says borough passed best-practices review; town notification system planned; Eagle Scout bench approved in principle

During New Business at the Nov. 8 meeting, CFO Mike Marceau told the council the State best-practices questionnaire (48 questions, 27 scored) required a score of at least 15 to receive 100 percent; Ogdensburg scored 19 and therefore passed. Marceau offered to review the questions with the council if desired.
Mayor George P. Hutnick and Councilman Nardini described work on a town-wide notification system and said they were exploring several products and a possible shared-service arrangement with the Ogdensburg Elementary School's Honeywell system. Officials said they hope to have the system in place by the start of the new year and that its operational cost will be a permanent budget line item.
In public comment, Gabrielle Nardini described an Eagle Scout project to build benches for the soccer field near the mine and requested approval. Council members asked for dimensions, materials and a plan they could present to the State because the field is State land. Mayor Hutnick said the benches could be moveable and advised the submitter to provide final plans for approval.
The council also approved payment of vouchers and departmental finance reports by roll call during the meeting; the warrant list in the minutes includes payments to the Ogdensburg Board of Education and Sussex County Treasurer among other items.
