Ogdensburg council adopts administrative fee changes, appoints fire marshal and approves Halloween curfew

At its Oct. 13 meeting the Ogdensburg council adopted Ordinance 10-2021 amending administrative and animal-control fees, appointed Eric Stahl as Fire Marshal, approved a curfew for Oct. 28–31 and authorized police and fire presence for a local Haunted Mine event, and approved routine voucher payments.
The Ogdensburg Mayor and Council on Oct. 13 adopted Ordinance 10-2021 to amend Chapter 2 (administration) and Chapter 4 (animal control) of the Borough code. Councilwoman Slater moved adoption, Councilman Nardini seconded, and the ordinance passed on roll call with Yeas — Alvarez, Cowdrick, Nardini, Nasisi and Slater; DeMeo was absent. The mayor explained the ordinance and no public comments were offered.
The council also approved several consent-agenda items: Resolution 68-2021 establishing a 9:00 p.m. curfew for Oct. 28–31, 2021 for individuals under 18 unless accompanied by an adult; Resolution 69-2021 authorizing a $97.36 water refund to Autum McCourt; Resolution 70-2021 appointing Eric Stahl as the Borough Fire Marshal effective Oct. 14, 2021 at an annual salary of $4,200; Resolution 71-2021 appointing Mayor George P. Hutnick as the Borough's Fund Commissioner for the Statewide Insurance Fund year 2022 and Robin Hough as alternate; and Resolution 72-2021 appointing Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Service Inc. as the Borough’s Risk Management Consultant for 2022.
During public session, Ralph Bonard (44 Main Street) requested Ogdensburg Fire and Police presence with equipment, including a light tower, for the Sterling Hill Haunted Mine event on Oct. 22–23; Councilman Nasisi moved to authorize the departments’ presence and the council approved the authorization on a unanimous roll call with DeMeo absent.
On administrative matters, Councilman Nardini said the borough has scheduled water-tank cleaning for Nov. 4–5 at times intended to minimize service interruption, and that a notice will be posted for residents. He also reported the borough is reviewing options for faster internet now that fiber is available and that the council is preparing an ordinance change to remove a long-standing automatic 4 percent annual water-rate increase in the code.
Council approved the payment of vouchers and department finance reports; notable line items included a $212,734.00 payment to the Ogdensburg Board of Education and $87,005.00 to Wallkill Valley Regional High School. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
