The Borough of Ogdensburg council unanimously approved Mayor George P. Hutnick’s nomination of August Rutkowski Sr. as Senior Citizen of the Year for 2021 after Councilwoman Slater moved the honor and Councilman Nardini seconded. "All were in favor," the minutes record.
Clerk Robin Hough asked whether the council wanted any changes to the draft newsletter in council packets. Councilman Nardini asked to add the ORA garage sale date; Councilwoman Cowdrick asked to include a note encouraging lifeguards to begin training over the winter. Ms. Hough asked whether the council wanted those items added to the newsletter draft for publication.
Councilwoman Slater said she preferred hiring the individual who applied for a fire position rather than relying on the State Fire Marshal; Borough Attorney Robert McBriar said he would prepare a resolution for the next meeting and asked the clerk to reach out to the applicant.
On street repairs, Councilman Nardini said a patch and drainage issue was found in the pipe between 29 and 31 Edison Ave; he said staff want to address that repair before proceeding with paving under the existing grant so the road does not "eat itself up." Mike Vreeland will inspect the location and the borough will consider a small modification to the grant scope if needed.
The council opened a public session but no members of the public spoke. The meeting adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
