The Ogdensburg Borough Council on July 12 adopted Ordinance 07-2021, prohibiting the operation of any class of cannabis businesses within the borough.
Councilman Nardini moved to adopt the ordinance, titled "AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF ANY CLASS OF CANNABIS BUSINESSES WITHIN THE GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF OGDENSBURG AND AMENDING SECTION 30-105 (PROHIBITED USES) OF THE LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS OF THE BOROUGH." Councilman Nasisi seconded the motion. Mayor George P. Hutnick opened the meeting for public comment and no members of the public spoke; the roll-call vote was recorded as Yeas: Alvarez, Cowdrick, Nardini, Nasisi, Slater; DeMeo was absent.
The ordinance amends the borough evelopment regulations to list all classes of cannabis businesses as prohibited uses within the municipal boundaries. Council members did not record substantive public or council debate at the meeting; the adoption came at the July 12 regular meeting after the items listed on the consent agenda and other business.
The ordinance now becomes part of the borough—ode as amended; the council did not discuss implementation details or enforcement mechanisms during the meeting. Any future requests to change the prohibition would need to be brought back to the council as an ordinance amendment or separate application.
