San Juan County commissioners used the meeting to adopt several ceremonial recognitions: they passed Resolution 26-27-01 designating San Juan County a Purple Heart County and joining the Purple Heart Veil Network; adopted a proclamation honoring the Piedra Vista High School baseball team for winning the 2026 NMAA Class 5A state championship and proclaimed July 2026 "Piedra Vista High School baseball team day"; and proclaimed the 25th anniversary of the consolidation of San Juan County Fire and Rescue with remarks from current and past chiefs and a group photo in the lobby.
American Legion representative Bill Simkins accepted the Purple Heart resolution on behalf of the organization and recounted a Purple Heart recipient's service. Piedra Vista coaches and players were recognized at the dais; the head coach said eight seniors are heading to college and seven on baseball scholarships. Fire and Rescue leaders noted the department's origins as volunteer companies and recognized decades of service by chiefs and volunteers.
All three items were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
