Buckfield schedules July 21 public hearing for special amusement permit and liquor license; staff to check July 11 date
Summary
Select Board set a public hearing for July 21 at 6 p.m. on a special amusement permit and liquor license application and asked staff to confirm whether a July 11 entertainment date on the application is indoor or outdoor, because the existing permit language allows only indoor live entertainment with 72-hour notice.

The Town of Buckfield Select Board scheduled a public hearing for July 21 at 6 p.m. to consider a special amusement permit and liquor license application (referred to in the meeting as a "bucket" special amusement permit). The board agreed the regularly scheduled Select Board meeting will follow the public hearing.
Staff member noted the application lists a July 11 live-entertainment date that appears to be outdoors and therefore could conflict with the town’s permit language, which the staff member said only allows indoor live entertainment with 72-hour notice. “So if he has outdoor live entertainment on the 11th, he's in violation of that permit,” the staff member said, and the office will contact the applicant to confirm the specifics and advise that the town cannot have held the required public hearing in time for that date to occur under the current permit.
The committee member moved to hold a public hearing on July 21 at 6:00 p.m. and the motion was seconded and approved. Board members discussed timing for notices and how the select board's regular meeting will follow the hearing so the board can address any related agenda items immediately after the hearing.
Next steps: staff will notify the applicant and confirm whether the July 11 date is indoors or outdoors, issue public notices for the July 21 hearing, and include the item on the select board agenda that follows the hearing.
