Board approves road-bid advertising and agrees to pursue generator pricing for township building
Summary

Director of Public Works asked for board pre-authorization to advertise road project bids, saying the board could expect more bidders if advertising began soon. A motion to advertise the bids was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote recorded as Aye, 2-0.
The director also briefed the board on plans to upgrade the building generator to serve the township building and accommodate modest future growth. He said it would be cost-prohibitive to wire a single generator to serve both the township building and the older community building because of service differences and the need for additional switching and wiring. The staff recommendation was to “concentrate on this building” by specifying a generator sized for the present building with some extra capacity; the board signaled consensus for that approach and asked the director to return with detailed pricing and bid specifications.
The director noted a 30 kilowatt unit would power the township building with a modest upgrade in pump and heating demands, and that the difference between a 30 kW and larger 60 kW installation was roughly $15,000 in his estimate; final pricing will depend on spec, prevailing-wage requirements, and whether a CoStars vendor is available.
Next steps: staff will prepare generator specifications and cost estimates and return with a recommended procurement path; staff will also proceed with advertising road bids per the approved motion.
