The Williams Township public works director outlined plans to replace a 2005 International dump truck with a 2026 International 10-ton (approximately 41,000 lb GVW). He said the chassis quote was about $113,272.77 and that the body, plow and spreader would add roughly $91,094, for a total in the neighborhood of the board’s discussed cap.
Board members questioned procurement strategy and whether soliciting bids beyond the CoStars state contract would be prudent. The director said the CoStars contract offered substantial savings (he cited a $63,000 reduction versus factory list) and that buying through the state contract still yields lower customer pricing than retail purchase.
The board moved to approve a purchase not to exceed $205,000 using liquid fuels funds and to structure the acquisition as a five-year lease-purchase; supervisors asked staff to shop for the best five-year lease rate once the truck is delivered and to return with the final financing terms.
The board also approved posting surplus public-works equipment for auction (including an eight-foot plow, old mower, the replaced pickup truck and selected roll-off containers) and said awards would be finalized after the auction closes.
