Shelby council adopts FY 2023/24 budget amendment and approves EMT hire

Councilmember Pat Honeywell moved and Councilmember Karen Schlueter seconded a motion to adopt Resolution 5-243, a FY 2023/24 budget amendment; the council voted unanimously to approve the resolution following a public hearing that Mayor Ron Kroll closed at 7:08 p.m.
The amendment was adopted by roll call with all five councilmembers present voting aye. The public hearing on the amendment was held "according to the law," after which the council proceeded to the resolution vote.
Separately, Councilmember Pat Honeywell moved and Councilmember Jackie Hursey seconded a motion authorizing the city to offer the EMT position to Justin Tooley at $26.00 per hour, with a $2.00-per-hour increase after 90 days. The motion passed by unanimous roll call.
Roll call at the start of the meeting listed Councilmembers Pat Honeywell, Karen Schlueter, Jackie Hursey, Todd Frank and Traci True as present. Mayor Ron Kroll asked for conflicts of interest; none were declared. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
