The Enumclaw City Council adopted Resolution 1879 on May 26 to amend the city fee schedule. Parks and cemetery fee changes and an automatic consumer-price-index adjustment to school impact fees were among the items described in staff presentations.
Parks and Recreation Director Alina Hibbs presented two Parks proposals. She said the existing three-day-a-week swim-team program (EELS) is currently $276 for three days per week and that staff recommends offering a two-day-a-week option as a lower-cost alternative. The transcript recorded the two-day option as "$2.25"; Parks staff and council materials indicate this is a transcription error and the intended two-day option is $225. Staff recommended the two-day option to provide a more affordable alternative while noting participants would still attend the same number of meets.
On cemetery fees, staff described multiple changes to infant lots, cremation garden lots, mausoleum alcove niches and other categories, citing rising operations and maintenance costs and decreased available inventory. The cemetery board could not meet to consider the changes, so staff brought the fee updates directly to the full council to avoid penalizing the contractor Weeks Funeral Home for delays in board scheduling.
Finance/operations staff (Chris Vaseline) explained the fee resolution also implements a 3.1% automatic CPI adjustment to the school impact fee based on the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue CPI index; the adjustment was implemented April 1 and the resolution aligns the paperwork with permit fees.
After staff presentations, the council moved, seconded and adopted Resolution 1879 on a voice vote.
