Board agrees to field use for local softball and to match last year’s Wheels on Wheels contribution

Williams Township supervisors approved local field use for the Eastern Lehigh Valley Softball Association for 2024 and agreed to match last year’s contribution to Wheels on Wheels of Greater Lehigh Valley.

During the manager’s report staff said they received a request from the fire company to participate in a truck event on Oct. 19 and asked whether Public Works should bring a truck and whether employees should remain to supervise equipment. Public Works staff recommended sending equipment and two employees to supervise to prevent children from climbing on machinery.

On the Wheels on Wheels donation request, staff said the organization asked the township for $5,000 and that 12 township residents currently use the service. A board member noted the township donated $4,000 last year and moved to donate the same amount this year; that motion was seconded in the meeting record. Recreation and land‑preservation representatives also described a fall festival on Sept. 28 (rain date Sept. 29) and requested volunteers; the board moved to allow Eastern Lehigh Valley Softball Association use of township fields and lights through mid‑October with no fee for 2024.
