Authority authorizes bids for 38th Place stormwater phases and County Line culvert

The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority approved moving forward to solicit bids for Phase 1 and 2 of the 38th Place/Filmore stormwater improvement project and reissued bid documents for the County Line culvert replacement concurrently. Staff said Phase 1–2 engineering and specifications are ready, DNR permits have been received, and the intent is to advertise in early April with a pre-bid on April 30 and bid opening May 7 with award at the May 12 meeting for the larger 38th Place contract; the County Line culvert will have a shorter bid window and may be awarded earlier.
Staff estimated Phase 1 and 2 at about $5.3 million including a 15% contingency; the board discussed responsible bidder thresholds and the possibility of separate bids for some components to preserve competition. Motions to issue both bid packages and to reissue the County Line culvert bid documents were made and approved.
