Authority approves downtown film shoot and routine downtown contracts; unsafe-building case set over

The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority agreed to add a film-shoot request to the agenda and approved a daytime film shoot in downtown Hobart for March 22–25, after the applicant (introduced in the meeting packet as John Snowden van Van Bailyn) described plans to film on sidewalks and in front of Montego Bay and said police would be kept apprised.
Separately, the board approved contract renewals for several downtown businesses — including Burkhos Bari Grill, Montego Bay Grill, Rangers at the Clock Tower and two coffee houses — extending approvals through Oct. 31. Staff said they were comfortable moving forward with the contracts.
On unsafe buildings, the board reviewed an unsafe-building order at 312 North Canton Street. Staff reported the new owner obtained a building permit but remained under a stop-work order while a plumber is secured. The Authority voted to set that item over to the April 1 meeting to allow time for substantial compliance.
These agenda items drew less public interest than the appeals on the fill permit; the film-shoot approval included routine conditions to coordinate with police and to avoid blocking state routes.
