Commission staff provided several routine operations and capital updates, including timelines for an upcoming field project, facility repairs and summer programs.
On the Ferry Road project, staff said bids were advertised with responses due June 30 and an informational meeting for prospective bidders set for June 23; once bids are reviewed the town will select a vendor and set a start date, with staff optimistic that work could be underway in August depending on site conditions and planting windows.
Parks staff reported that mini‑golf rebounded after a slow start, that the themed pump that powers a stream feature is broken and parts are on order, and that a themed fire boat sank and will be repaired later. The splashpad is fully operational, and staff said beach‑pass sales have exceeded about 2,200 so far with typical season totals closer to 2,800–3,000.
Facility work planned this summer includes resurfacing the tennis courts (and associated pickleball courts) around June 22–26, weather permitting, and replacement/repair of drinking fountains installed last year. Staff also reported that camp staff training has taken place, that new camp staff are certified or in training, and that three staffers will receive injectable‑medication training from a registered nurse on the schedule.
No formal votes on contracts or awards were recorded at the meeting; staff said a bid review will follow the June 30 deadline and they will bring recommendations to the commission when available.
