Board hears several routine requests: Family Connection fiscal agent, LegacyLink addendum, ACCG intern grant and Eagle Scout project
Summary
County staff and partners presented a set of routine items: Family Connection asked Dawson County to remain fiscal agent; LegacyLink offered a $10,000 addendum for respite memory care; an ACCG intern grant was proposed to fund an intern up to $3,000; and a local Eagle Scout outlined a mile-marker safety project for the Etowah River.
Several non-funding or small-grant items were presented together for board consideration.
Rebecca Bliss, coordinator for Dawson County Family Connection, requested the county continue as the fiscal agent for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1–June 30) and asked the board to approve the role now to meet Georgia Department of Human Services contract timing (documents due by Feb. 17).
Dawn Johnson, Senior Services Director, described a LegacyLink contract addendum (Addendum No.1) that would provide an additional $10,000 primarily for respite/memory-care services; staff said the funds would offset county expense and support five seniors currently in the program.
Angela Byers, community development staff, requested acceptance of an Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) intern grant to fund a temporary intern for community development. Byers said the intern would be paid $15/hour for up to 200 hours (ACCG covers wages to $3,000 and limited employer costs) and would be hired between May 1 and Sept. 1.
Park staff introduced Luke Lochner, a life scout working with Matt Payne, who proposed an Eagle Scout project to install mile-marker signs along the canoe run from Etowah River Park to Kelly Bridge to help users and responders locate incidents.
These items were presented as routine and were flagged as candidates for the consent agenda or for placement on the next meeting’s voting agenda as appropriate.
