He told the board the county received a Georgia Department of Transportation grant of $497,689 toward the project and that the city of Dawsonville will pay a portion under an intergovernmental agreement (IGA). Drew said the low bids came in favorably compared with an earlier estimate and that procurement followed the county's legal advertising requirements.
Commissioners discussed timing with the bridge closure and an upcoming roundabout construction, including contractor access and hauling logistics. Drew said staff expected to sequence work so the contractor could complete FDR before the bridge opens and that weather will also affect schedule.
