Dawson County unveils redesigned public website with ADA features and new tools

Aaron, the county staff member who presented the project, told the Dawson County Board of Commissioners the redesigned county website went live at 9 a.m. the day of the meeting and aims to make county information easier to find.
Aaron said the project reduced costs compared with earlier plans and highlighted features intended to improve accessibility and engagement, including ADA compliance checks, Google Translate, predictive search that adapts to residents' queries, embedded live video for meetings and the ability to run opinion polls and surveys. He thanked County Manager Joey Leverett for giving staff authority to proceed on the project. "We began our talks in spring, and we fully signed the paperwork and kicked off work in July," Aaron said.
The presenter stated the project cost and the annual recurring hosting fee as presented during the meeting (the transcript gave a project figure and an annual recurring price of $5,805). He also said the county expected savings of about $17,529.25 through discounts and trimming nonessential features. The board had no questions beyond brief thanks from the chair and moved on to the next agenda item.
The demonstration was framed as an informational presentation rather than an action item; no formal vote was required.
