Township asks county to acknowledge naming of Hall Road; commission concurs

Mike McHugh, identified in the meeting as Orway Township Clerk, told the Brown County Commission that the township adopted a resolution to dedicate the north half of a previously split half-mile line and to name it Hall Road. He said the south half had been dedicated to the public in the 1930s, but the north half never had been, creating uncertainty about ownership and 911 addressing.
McHugh said the township followed advice from attorney Cody Miller with the Association of Towns and Townships to draft the resolution, held a meeting on June 25 to adopt it and published the notice in legal notices. The township intends to file the resolution with the register of deeds so the dedication appears in the land abstract.
The commission moved to acknowledge the township’s action; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Commissioners said the naming should help emergency responders and residents locate addresses more easily.
John Kipley, identified in the discussion as a township board member accompanying McHugh, and other attendees thanked the commission for acknowledging their efforts.
