Nehawka trustees select Kaitlin Finchum to be offered clerk/treasurer after interviews

Why it matters: The clerk/treasurer is the village’s day-to-day fiscal and records officer. Filling the role is central to maintaining monthly reports such as meeting minutes, the treasurer’s report and claims processing.
The board first interviewed Amy Archer about availability, including the possibility of an evening workday, and asked about relevant software experience such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Word and Excel. Archer’s interview ended at 7:20 p.m. Both finalists had previously been given an opportunity to meet with the acting clerk in the village office to review job requirements and workload.
The trustees then interviewed Kaitlin Finchum on the same set of topics; her interview concluded at 7:36 p.m. After discussing the candidates’ strengths, the board—by way of a hand count—decided to offer the clerk/treasurer position to Finchum. The minutes state that Chairman Chad Krueger will inform both applicants of the board’s process and the outcome.
