Nehawka board raises minimum water and sewer rates

The Village of Nehawka Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance 2026-1 on June 10, increasing the village’s minimum water charge to $41.00 per 3,000 gallons and the minimum sewer charge to $42.00 per 3,000 gallons. The board approved the ordinance by unanimous vote.
Pat Neu, acting clerk/treasurer, summarized the proposed rate change and the board voted to adopt the ordinance after a motion by Trustee Ian Begemann. The village left the over-minimum rates unchanged: water will remain $7.00 per 1,000 gallons over the minimum and sewer $2.00 per 1,000 gallons over the minimum.
The ordinance replaces the previous minimum-rate structure and will be incorporated into village billing going forward. The board did not provide a timeline for the new rates’ billing start date at the meeting. The vote was recorded as passing with all members present in favor.
