At the July 16 Glassport Borough Council meeting, two residents spoke during public comment about rental-license fees, garbage billing and neighborhood safety.
Michael Thomas addressed the council about paperwork he previously submitted concerning the residential rental license fee and asked whether the borough could include the garbage bill with property taxes. Solicitor Falco Muscante responded that the borough's fees are "in line," and Council President Anthony Colecchi said the question about including garbage billing with taxes is being taken under advisement by council.
Resident Kathy Emerick described concerns about children being left alone on the 400 block of Ohio Avenue and thanked the mayor and chief for looking into the matter. President Colecchi told Emerick to contact the police whenever she observes such situations.
No formal action was taken at the meeting on either the rental-license fee or the garbage-billing request; council indicated staff will evaluate the garbage-billing question and report back as appropriate.
