Glassport Council adopts salary ordinance, labor MOU and police chief contract extension; approves month—nd bills

Glassport Borough Council on Jan. 21 adopted multiple ordinances, approved a labor memorandum of understanding and extended the police chief's contract while authorizing routine month-end payments.

Council adopted Ordinance 1233, the 2025 Salary Ordinance, on a unanimous vote. The body also adopted Ordinance 1234 amending Ordinance 920 to modify the membership and creation of the Shade Tree Commission.

Meghan DeVerse moved and Paul Trunzo seconded the motion to adopt Ordinance 1233; the motion carried. DeVerse then moved and Angelo Norelli seconded the motion to adopt Ordinance 1234; the motion carried.

Council approved Resolution 1 (dated 1/21/25) establishing the terms and conditions of employment for the borough secretary. The resolution was moved by DeVerse and seconded by Trunzo.

On labor matters, Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Teamsters Local No. 205 to implement adjustments tied to 12-hour shifts, subject to final solicitor review and authorization for signatures. Paul Trunzo moved the measure and DeVerse seconded it; the motion carried.

Separately, Council approved a contract extension for the Chief of Police under the terms contained in the agreement. The motion, made by Mark Stecak and seconded by Angelo Norelli, passed with Meghan DeVerse recorded as abstaining.

Council also carried routine financial measures: it approved the monthly financial reports and authorized payment of General Fund bills for December totaling $1,370,862.06 and Sewer Revenue Fund bills totaling $82,555.23. Angelo Norelli moved approval of the monthly reports; Paul Trunzo moved the General Fund payments and Mark Stecak moved the Sewer Revenue Fund payments; all motions carried.

The meeting concluded with a reminder for elected officials to file their required ethics forms and the council's adjournment.
