Glassport Borough Council accepted the borough’s 2023 audit, which auditors delivered with no findings or issues, and approved monthly financial reports and routine bill payments during its July 16 meeting.
Borough officials reported collections from MBM Collections for delinquent accounts: $42,583.46 in real-estate collections for June and $138,078.80 year to date, and $48,669.16 in delinquent sewage collections for June with $189,704.21 year to date. "The auditors were happy with the results," Councilman Angelo Norelli said when presenting the delinquent-tax and sewage-collection figures.
Treasurer Elaina Skiba presented the monthly financial reports; Councilwoman Amy Nabors moved and Mark Stecak seconded to approve the reports, and the motion passed 6-0. Council then approved paying General Fund bills for June totaling $317,543.68 (motion by Paul Trunzo, second by Meghan DeVerse) and Sewer Revenue Fund bills totaling $48,798.46 (motion by Angelo Norelli, second by Meghan DeVerse). Both payments were approved unanimously.
Council also authorized paying off the borough’s tax anticipation note and approved a Community Benefit Trust grant application to cover remaining costs for municipal-building renovations; both motions passed 6-0. Borough Manager Elaina Skiba said the council will provide more information once grant details are finalized.
The meeting packet includes detailed collections and expenditure figures and the audit document, which are available on request from the borough office. The council did not take further action on any new budget amendments at the meeting.
