Hay Springs board approves financial items, consolidates lunch account and eliminates Student Fee Fund

At its Oct. 13 meeting the Hay Springs Public Schools Board unanimously approved September financial reports, payables of $119,246.07, payroll liabilities of $267,359.10, a 12‑month rollover of a certificate of deposit, consolidation of the lunch account into the general fund and elimination of the Student Fee Fund; all motions passed 6–0.
The Hay Springs Public Schools Board of Education approved a series of financial and administrative measures Oct. 13, voting unanimously on minutes, financial reports and several account changes.
M. Kearns moved and T. Milne seconded approval of the Sept. 8, 2025 regular meeting minutes; the roll call vote passed 6–0. D. Russell moved and K. Stock seconded approval of the Sept. 24 special meeting minutes; that vote also passed 6–0.
The board approved September ending financial account summaries and authorized October payables in the amount of $119,246.07 and October payroll liabilities of $267,359.10 on a 6–0 roll call vote (motion by M. Kearns; second by K. Hughbanks).
D. Russell moved and M. Kearns seconded a motion to roll over a certificate of deposit for 12 months; the motion passed 6–0.
K. Stock moved and D. Russell seconded consolidation of the district lunch account into the general fund; the board approved the consolidation on a 6–0 vote. K. Hughbanks moved and D. Russell seconded eliminating the Student Fee Fund; the motion passed 6–0.
The minutes record that the board later entered executive session to discuss a personnel matter and then exited before adjourning at 7:55 p.m. No public comments were recorded during the meeting. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 10, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
