Superintendent Sandberg thanked volunteers, city partners and district staff on Thursday for helping Westerville students take part in Fourth of July festivities and the city parade. “I want to take a moment to thank everybody that made the 4th of July festivities possible this past weekend,” Sandberg said, singling out the Rotary Club and multiple staff and community volunteers.
Sandberg named several people who helped organize the district’s participation, including parade volunteer drivers Shirley Timberlake, Erin Hedrick, Shelly Smith and Bree Gray, and mechanic Bob Arnold, who helped prepare the district float. She said the district added shuttle service this year to ease congestion at Saint Paul’s staging area and identified shuttle drivers BJ Patton, Sandy Woods, Diane Rischheimer and Alan Bassick.
Sandberg also thanked staff members Randy Snyder, Becca Yanni and Charlie Boss for coordinating with Carrie Dennis and city officials, and she recognized students, band directors and coaches for their participation. “We got to march with the new We Are the Ville football and cheer teams, and it was really exciting to see their excitement and their energy,” she said, adding thanks to Miss Leben and Missus Altman for their participation.
The remarks were brief and focused on appreciation; Sandberg closed by saying she had no further items to present. The board chair responded with a brief ‘‘Thank you’’ before moving on to the next agenda item.
